A San Francisco Adventure: Exploring the City by GoCar

After hiking and backpacking consistently for several weekends, we decided to take a break and experience a different kind of adventure, one that had us stay local and be a tourist in our own backyard.

We often saw these yellow go kart-like vehicles zipping around the various parts of San Francisco and had always thought it would be fun to try. After years of thinking that, we finally rented one and had an amazing three hours.

Starting from the GoCar office in Fisherman’s Wharf, the GPS-guided tour had us driving to the Marina where we had foggy views of Crissy Fields and the Golden Gate Bridge, out to Fort Point and back up through Sea Cliff into the Presidio, and all the way to Ocean Beach. From there we turned inland and navigated through Golden Gate Park and to the Haight-Ashbury before taking a fun turn down Lombard Street. The audio highlighted interesting tidbits about the locations we went through and taught us some fun facts – like Lombard Street isn’t actually the most crooked street in the city.

It was such a great way to explore our city. I’m glad we did it!
